W. Mast founded the company in 1878 but it was his son, Curt Mast, who had created Jägermeister in 1934 and achieved international success. He created this drink especially for his hunting community but it grew more and more popular that it became one of the national drinks in Germany. In 2014, Jägermeister was sold to over 100 countries and was the 8th most sold single spirit brand with 87.1 million bottles sold worldwide.
