GODET

In 1550, Bonaventure Godet, the founder of Cognac Godet , established the original family winery in La Rochelle, a city in western France on the Atlantic coast. 1588 Bonaventure Godet, Dutch merchant, establishesd a salt and wine business in the harbour of La Rochelle. He is among the first one to distil his wines to reduce transportation costs. Henri IV give him the right to burn the wine - Brandjwine. In 1782, Gedeon Louis started bottling cognac under Godet label and officially registered the trademark. Cognac Godet has been passed down through the hands of 15 generations and this family's enduring spirit ensures the highest of quality. Limited production, long maturation, hand-made work, on demand bottling of tailor made cuvees are some of Godet deep beliefs. Cognac Godet is one of the few family-owned companies in France with over 400 years of cognac brewing history.
